Developing Mineral Resources from Remnant Mineralisation in Historic Mines. A Case Study on The Galmoy Zn-Pb Project, Ireland.
Variable levels of geological data remain from historic mining operations, ranging from none to significant. Where significant data remains, the amount of new verification work required to support historic exploration data and develop Mineral Resources in line with International Reporting Codes may be relatively small. In the case of Shanoon Resources Limited’s Galmoy Zn-Pb Project, the well-developed underground mining database from historic operations was key in supporting the Company’s 2019 Mineral Resource Statement. This presentation illustrates how smarter brownfield project assessment, by way of focusing on attractive assets where considerable data remains, has the potential to save time and investment in unlocking mineral potential.
