An increasing number of mining-related disputes are submitted to international courts and tribunals, in particular in Eastern Europe and the CIS. It is essential that actors in the mining sector, both states and private entities, learn from these disputes. It is equally important to know how to avoid them in the first place.
To discuss the theme, Bernhard Maier, a Senior Associate at Squire Patton Boggs will be presenting at MINEX Europe 2019 which will be held on 25-27 June 2019 in Sofia, Bulgaria.
Bernhard is a dual-qualified attorney (England and Wales and New York) with over ten years’ experience in investment treaty and commercial arbitration and public international law advisory work, including a number of high-profile mining cases. He is a member of the UK Attorney General’s Panel of Public International Law Counsel to the Crown and a visiting lecturer at King’s College London.
